The Bad

• Doom's Monologue Monotony: Doom spends a lot of internal monologue time contemplating the nature of doom (shocking, right?). While it can be interesting, some of it feels repetitive.

• Valeria Takes a Backseat: With Doom as the main focus, Valeria doesn't get much chance to shine in this first issue. Hopefully, she'll play a bigger role going forward.

• Is it Doom or Hickman?: Doom is a complex character, but sometimes his internal thoughts here feel more like Jonathan Hickman's philosophical musings than Doom's own.

Doom #1 is a visually impressive comic with a world-ending story to tell.
